Bosch MAP Sensor

A replacement MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor designed to measure the pressure within the boost system and provide the engine ECU with accurate boost pressure information.

On the Focus XR5 / ST225, the MAP sensor is located on the cold side boost pipe on the driver's side. With Stage 3 intercooler kits from various manufacturers, the sensor may instead be mounted directly into the intercooler body. On most setups the sensor is fitted into the boost hose or pipe using the factory style mounting arrangement.

The MAP sensor plays an important role in engine management, providing the ECU with pressure readings used to help control boost, fuelling and engine operation.

Before replacing a MAP sensor, it's worth removing and cleaning the sensor, as oil vapour and other contamination can build up on the sensing element and cause incorrect readings. Cleaning can often resolve issues without requiring replacement.

If you're experiencing unusual, inconsistent or implausible boost pressure readings after cleaning the sensor, the sensor itself may be faulty and require replacement.

If you need the connector kit for this sensor, you can find it [here].
